I love blogging.

I really do.

I love sharing my outfits with all of you, even if they aren't amazing and expensive and perfect.

It makes me happy, and H and I love the extra time that we get to spend together while preparing each post. [He takes all of my pictures, and he helps me choose blog post titles. ;]

This past week I was able to visit my family in Arizona, and let me tell you... I didn't even touch my computer. I didn't blog, I didn't read anyone else's blog, and I was away from all of the negativity on the internet. And it's given me some time to think about what I want to share.

Why do people "hate" fashion bloggers, and fashion blogs, or blogs in general? I really don't get it. When I decided to convert this blog into a space where I share my daily looks, I guess I wasn't really sure how people would react. I got a lot of positive encouragement up front, but now sometimes I feel like people are mocking me behind my back or on social media. Not me directly, I suppose. But fashion bloggers in general. People laugh at and make fun of bloggers. They write blog posts that degrade bloggers. They share rude comments on blogs or other websites. And it seems like they relate girls who blog about what they wear each day, to someone who doesn't have a thought in their head.

That's not true.

Blogging about my life and about what I wear is something that I really love. It's always been hard for me to figure out what I want to do in life. I've never had a job that's lasted more than a year. I get bored easily, and want to try new things. But blogging? That's something I love. And something that I haven't gotten sick of.

That doesn't make me stupid. I don't feel stupid because I blog.

It doesn't make my job laughable. I feel great when people recognize me and tell me that they love my blog.

I'm not embarrassed by any of it.

I don't care what people think about me or who I am or what I do. I have enough confidence to not let it hurt my feelings. And I love all of you who read my blog and send me sweet comments and emails. I think that has helped me grow in so many ways. But I am so sick of this whole "fashion bloggers are stupid, and annoying, and so into themselves and blah, blah, blah." Why does anyone feel the need to discredit what someone else loves to do? Why does it bother them so much?

And to be honest, I have struggled since starting my blog to find a balance between sharing my outfits and sharing more about my personal life. I do love sharing my "ootd" but I also want to share more than that. Because I am more than that.

I love to write. I really do. Writing is another thing I love, but sometimes I feel like I can't write and share on this blog. I'm afraid that my readers won't like it, because I've gotten into the habit of only blogging about fashion. I'm afraid that if I share too much that it will give people more to make fun of or hurt me with.

The internet can be a very scary place, because you can be anonymous. And when you are anonymous, it is so much easier to say something that you wouldn't say in person... to leave a mean comment.

If you really dislike my blog so much, why are you still reading it? Honestly, I want to know. Even some of my closest friends don't read my blog. And that is FINE. I really could not care less if you don't want to read my blog. [Except H, you always have to read it. ;]

You don't have to love everything that I do or say or wear, but you don't have to be rude about it either.

Running this blog is my job and I love it.

I'm fed up with the stigma that fashion bloggers are given. I'm not stupid. I care about more than just fashion. I won't let others define who I am or what I do.

I love blogging, and I will continue to blog for as long as I please. I will write about what I want to write about, and I will share what I want to share.

And if you don't like it, feel free to stop reading my blog. I will not be offended.

PS-- To the rest of you, I LOVE YOU. Thanks for supporting and reading my blog. It means more than you know.

  1. dont listen to the haters! you are wonderful and great! keep up the good work!

  2. I like your blog... You are good at what you are doing :) ...

  3. People hide behind anonymity like cowards. I'm not a blogger. I'm a casual blog follower that logs in every morning from my office and catches up on my favorites. Blogs like yours provide inspiration. Fashion, makeup, hair... It's a pleasant escape from my workday. Keep doing what YOU enjoy. Screw the haters.

  4. I really don't understand the people out there that take the time to bash people like that. They need to just move on and stop with the hating! I love seeing pretty outfits and I also love just reading about peoples daily lives and the blogs that combine both of those things are the ones I'm most likely to continue following :) Do what you love!

  5. I LOVE your blog! Your hiatus concerned me but I am so glad to read you were taking a much needed vacay :) Glad you are back!

  6. I'd love to hear more of what you have to say! personally, I love bloggers that share some parts of their lives- I feel like it makes you more real!

  7. I don't know why people think it is ok to leave mean comments on blogs! First of all, who has that kind of time, and second who thinks that is ok to do?? No matter what kind of blogger you are (fashion, food, lifestyle, etc) you are putting yourself out there and it takes a lot of guts. You do a great job. Don't listen to the mean people out there

  8. I hope this means you're back... I personally love the personal posts, but I like your outfit posts too. There are even times I see something in a store and think, that's totally a Victoria shirt. Haha, I'm sad I didn't get to see you last week. Next time you're down here we have to get together. Love you girl!!

  9. Didn't know there was that much negative about bloggers out there......stay encouraged! You're fashion sense is a gift for others!

  10. Victoria, I love your posts! Especially your open hearted ones. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings on this topic. You are awesome!

  11. You tell it girl!! I write a fashion blog and am studying to be a CPA. Tell me how I'm stupid? I don't read negative things and anyone who wants to criticize me or other bloggers for what we do - which is brave - they can jump off a bridge. I love your blog. Sometimes I only check out the outfits, other times I read, but I never think negatively about what you write. It's your feelings and who am I to say they are wrong. Thank you for writing this post!!

  12. You go girl! Each blogger and blog reader is unique person - they bring their own experiences and thoughts to the blogs they read and write - this is what makes blogging so incredible. We get to meet and interact with others on a level that isn't possible in real life! I enjoy your blog and enjoying whatever it is you feel like sharing that day - whether it be an outfit or something more - this is your space to write, create and share - do with it what you want - I promise you won't regret it!

  14. We both just visited Arizona to visit family at the same time! I would have loved to have met you. You truly are a great blogger, your fashion posts don't define you. You are an inspiration to many, so who could care about the other few. I would read any post you wrote regardless of topic. Keep up the good work. Xoxo

  15. Your personal posts are what made me fall in love with your blog from the very beginning! I love all of your posts about marriage. They're inspiring! You're an awesome writer. Blog about what makes YOU happy.

Thank you so much for stopping by. I love your comments, and I read each and every one!
