Day 16: Girly + Fake Pregnant

Guys, I'm just going to be real with you right now.

H and I have been married for almost 9 months, and I have been convinced that I was pregnant probably 9 times. Seriously, every month, I tell H, "I feel like I'm pregnant." And yet every time, he knows better. Because obviously I'm not pregnant.

If my parents are reading this right now, they'll probably get mad at me for sharing too much information. [STOP READING MOM AND DAD.] But that's okay, because this is necessary for you to understand where I'm coming from. I have had a lot of friends who gained excessive amounts of weight or had crazy mood swings on the pill, and their horror stories scared me into taking a different route. I got an IUD, and for the first few months I had a lot of problems. Not weight gain or mood swings, but mostly a lot of pain, and so I hated it. I haven't had any pain from it in awhile, though, and now I'm kind of liking it.

So every month I just know that I'm pregnant, and then every month I'm just not. [Not that we're trying. Obviously. I have an IUD.]

Reasons I'm convinced I'm pregnant:
-Every month I'm convinced that I'm gaining weight.
-Every month I'm convinced that the ladies are growing. And they get really tender. [This month I SWEAR THEY ARE.]
-Sometimes I'm convinced I have this super human sense of smell.
-I'm so emotional. All the time. When I'm happy I cry; when I'm sad I cry. [This has been going on as long as I can remember though. I'm super sensitive. Haha]
-I haven't had a visit from Mother Nature in 3 months. [That's very common with Mirena, though.]
-I get an upset stomach/nauseous after most meals. [That's been going on for a long time though, but I still like to blame it on my fake pregnancies.]

Reasons I know I'm not pregnant:
-I have an IUD. [And while it is possible to get pregnant with an IUD in, it's very dangerous and I'm sure I would be in a whole lot of pain.]

So yeah. That's a little peek into what's been going on in the Farnsworth household. Every time I tell H that I'm pregnant, he just laughs at me. When I finally do get pregnant, he's definitely not going to believe me, haha!

Sorry if this post was TMI for you, but I'm also not that sorry. Have any of you had experiences like this, or am I just crazy??

  1. I love it! My hubby use to tell me I was pregnant like every month and I would just smile and say nope. A little weight gain, larger ladies, etc.... especially the food cravings. My hubby gets baby fever, not me. He gushes over other babies, not me. He looks for the signs, not me. That was until 3 years ago when we discovered I couldn't conceive on my own. No sad face here. I think I always knew and after 9 years of marriage (congrats on 9 months) we are very happy with our lives and each other. So I wish you the best of luck and never forget these funny moments!

  2. welcome to my life girl - i do that every single month and a) we're not trying b) we're super safe c) i'm crazy. but i think it's funny! because my boyfriend is the baby crazy one :)

  3. Oh yeah. I had the copper IUD for four years, so I still had periods, but if I was a day late I'd freak out. One year I was bored over Christmas break and completely convinced I was pregnant: nausea (holiday junk food), lethargy (nothing to do anyway), and most of the other symptoms. I wasn't pregnant. Order a bunch of pregnancy test strips from Amazon (should be $5 for 25) and use them to calm your mind.

  4. I'm pretty sure most girls experience the fake pregnancies! I usually keep a few pregnancy tests on hand to put my mind at easeduring those freak out times!
p.s. Love the girly outfit! The pink top is soooo cute!

  5. I am so, so glad that I'm not the only one. I've been on birth control for years, but ever since my husband and I got married, I've been nervously thinking I'm pregnant every month!

  6. I totally do that too. The cravings, the tenderness, the weight fluctuations (in certain areas)...freaks me out every time. I was told that it's normal for a lot of women when their hormone levels drop and spike. I find that when I'm especially sensitive, my estro levels are up pretty high.

  7. I feel the same way every month! I actually took a pregnancy test a few days after I had already had my period once, too. Ridiculous! I love the outfit - especially that amazing bag!

  8. Ha, I totally used to think I was pregnant every month.....until I actually was!

  9. Ba ha! I've had a few scares...I finally decided not to freak out until after it's supposed to me my time of the month. It can be a scary thing though :)

Love the girly look today! That skirt is amazing!

  10. haha, i have the opposite problem! every month my husband thinks i'm pregnant. He always asks if i have his babygirl in my belly. and sometimes i skip my period. and my boobs have grown. gosh dang birth control pills!

  11. love everything about this look! love the combination of colors and it suits you perfectly!
    You've such a cute blog!

  12. Love the outfit especially the shoes!!

  13. Every month girl. Haha. I think for me at least, its that I secretly wish I was pregnant but then at the same time I don't want to be...yet. if that makes any sense. love your blog ps

  14. During my first year of marriage I thought I was pregnant all the time! I would be worried all the time and buy lots of test, just to make sure. But I never was and I was always over reacting!

  15. Same thing here! Especially last month I got a headache that lasted for 5 days so everyone was convinced I was pregnant. I've not had a period for 2 months and I'm on the arm implant BC so I know I'm not... but it is still stressful. Ha! For once I am praying my period comes just so I know for sure.. Good luck. You look amazing!!

  16. My husband and I just celebrated our first anniversary (last Saturday)! About every 3 months since we got married I have thought I was pregnant. I have really bad nausea, get ridiculous headaches and actually lose weight (hyperemesis runs in my family). It freaks me out every time!

About your bad stomach aches after you eat, ever think its a food allergy? I was sick my whole life (stomachaches/headaches/hospital visits) and was finally diagnosed with a wheat allergy at 19. I am so healthy now and hardly get sick! I used to think it was normal to get sick after you eat. I promise its not. Try taking certain food groups out of your diet to see if it is something your eating!

  17. I found you off of Bloombyhaleyanne on insta and I'm in love with your cute style! Decided to check out your blog and started out laughing! I tell my husband I'm pregnant every month and I think I convince myself of it so much that I start thinking I'm having all the symptoms. I take like 2 hpt's every month because I swear the first one is wrong every time! I also had an iud and got it removed, and let me just tell you... The fake pregnancies don't go away. They get so much worse because I know they could be real! But so glad to know that I'm not the only one that tells their hubby they're pregnant when there's like no chance they could be! You have such a cute blog and cute style! Glad I found you!:)

  18. Hahaha oh man, when I first got married I was definitely convinced I was pregnant nearly every month! My husband would just roll his eyes and remind me that birth control actually works... ha. Anyway, now that we've been married for 5 years, I never think about it, but I bet it will happen eventually when I don't even notice it!

I love your outfit! That necklace and that skirt are so fabulous!

  19. I have a mirena and about every 3-4 months think I am PG too ....

  20. Haha, I'm a super emotional person when I'm PMS - lots of crying, tender everything & mood swings like woah... my poor fiancé!
You look fabulous my dear - and I'm sure one day you will make a fabulous mother ;)

  21. You look fabulous!!

  22. Ha, I love this post. I felt exactly the same way when I first got married. I made my hubs buy pregnancy tests because I was so paranoid. I had an IUD too and it made me really crampy at the beginning and took away my periods. It's hard not to be paranoid because a lot of the symptoms you experience are similar to pregnancy, but trust me you'll know when you're pregnant. My girls got sensitive when I had my IUD, but got three times as sensitive when I got pregnant. Love your blog by the way! You're so cute!

  23. I totally do the same thing! i always think I am prego. haahhaha darling outfit! I LOVE those super fun dazzling heels!

  24. I had a lot of those problems when I was on a BC that wasn't right for me... my body was having a bad reaction to the hormones that were in it. Could it be the Mirena causing some of the faux-pregnancy symptoms?

  25. I am on my second Mirena IUD and have felt many times that I am pregnant! I do think you get pregnant on the Mirena but it causes you to have a very early on miscarriage. After having the Mirena for 7 years I have finally made an appointment to get it out!
After doing a lot of research I realized I was having a lot of symptoms I had no idea were from my IUD. I wish I had done the research before I made the decision to get the Mirena in the first place! I recommend spending some time researching for yourself.
I found this blog to be very helpful! Good luck to you!

  26. So happy I found this post! I just got married (a month ago) and we are so not ready to have a baby and I was convinced I was pregnant until this morning I finally manned up and took the test to thankfully see a not pregnant sign. Thank god! I had completely convinced myself that the few times I was late (by about 12 hours) with the pill on our honeymoon was going to come back and bite me. I really need to stop doing that. I too had the Paraguard (copper IUD) but took it out a year ago because I became convinced it was causing a pooch in my belly that would just not go away with exercise and diet and I had the WORST periods on it. Heavy and would come totally suddenly. I do notice my stomach can get much firmer without the IUD and the low dose pill I'm on thankfully has had not weight gain side effects. But the downside is it generally stops my period so I don't have the monthly check that I'm not pregnant - thus the freaking out. I guess it is just the price I must pay for deciding it is great not to have a period! Glad to find there are other married women out there who don't want to get pregnant right away, all my friends seem to be getting married and having babies within a year! Yikes!!!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I love your comments, and I read each and every one!
